THE STORY: It was the American Revolutionary War, the Battle of Monmouth. Mary Ludwig was carrying pitchers of water to the soldiers. Her husband was a gunner in the Continental Army, and at the time, It was common for wives to provide battle support. The story goes that during the battle, her husband collapsed. Mary Ludwig took his place at the cannon. She would be remembered by her folk hero namesake, Molly Pitcher.
A monument was erected in Carlisle, Pennsylvania to honor the bravery of Molly Pitcher.
THE PRINT: This is a print of the original painting. The artwork is richly reproduced on 11"x14" (27.9cm x 35.6cm) bright white matte art paper. The frame is not included, but the print comes with a white border, and is ready to pop into a frame.
